MY TOP 5 FAV 80S CHRISTMAS SONGS

Hello and welcome back... Its that time of year again.. Christmas

I Love Christmas, its got a certain feeling about it.

From the department stores that have been decorated, warm weather, family get-togethers, good food and the birth of Jesus Christ.

A friend asked me the other day, what was the best Christmas you remember?
I would have to say... Christmas 1984

It was a warm day, about 32deg (90f), both my Grandparents turned up (that was rare) and i got my first Walkman from Santa. I could now listen to FM Stereo for the fist time although my fav station was 2SM (rock of the 80s) on the AM band.

I put the new battery's in, sniffed that new plastic smell, turned the Walkman on and the first song i heard was 'Band Aid - Do They Know Its Christmas' in 'stereo'.
I had chills and its a time i will never forget, even now, as both my grandparents are no longer alive.

So this is my top 5 Christmas songs that i love to listen to at this amazing time of year.

1. BAND AID - DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS

2.THE PRETENDERS - 2000 MILES

3. WHAM - LAST CHRISTMAS

4. JOHN LENNON - HAPPY CHRISTMAS

5. PAUL McCARTNEY - WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME

I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME TO SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY READERS OF THIS SITE.

SEE YOU IN 2018

DEVICE - HANGING ON A HEART ATTACK

Hello and welcome back... From 1986, comes this wicked track from U.S band DEVICE.

They only produced one album called '22B3' and Hanging on to a Heart Attack is track one.

Holly Knight who plays Synths, Vocals & Bass for Device is also know for writing songs for Pat Benatar, Scandal, Heart, Cheap Trick, Tina Turner and more.

Awesome song, take a listen.

PHILIP BAILEY - PHOTOGENIC

Hello and welcome back.. from his 1984 album ' Walking on the Chinese Wall' album came this track.

It is the first track on the album and features 'Phil Collins' on Drums and various Cylon Type voices.

Photogenic was originally released as a single but a lost interest, the powers to be decided to release 'Easy Lover' instead to gain attention to the album.

I think this is a wicked song, typical Phil Collins drumming with the excellent vocals of Philip Bailey, who, after this record, went on to sing gospel and released a gospel album as well.

Play Loud.

THINKMAN - BEST ADVENTURES

Hello and welcome back... Must admit, I've never heard of this song till the other day.

Released in 1986, 'Best Adventures' was track #1 on the album 'The Formula'

Apart from having a killer sound, Best adventures relies heavy on that Drum Sound due to the fact there are 2 drum kits used in this track.
You will find this track in the 80s TV series 'Miami Vice' (episode - Red Tape) (S3 E19)

Lead singer of the band 'Thinkman' is 'Rupert Hine', a well know U.K singer, musician and producer.
Some of the artists Rupert has produced for =
Tina Turner
Howard Jones
Saga
The Fixx
Thompson Twins
Stevie Nicks
Chris de Burgh
Suzanne Vega
Rush
Underworld

In fact, Thinkman is Rupert Hine (solo project but presented as a group) with actors used in TV performances such as Top of the Pops.

Many thanks to 80s on Speed website for opening my eyes (and ears) to this amazing track/album because in Australia, Thinkman / Rupert Hine was never heard.

98 ALBUMS YOU NEED TO HEAR BEFORE THE WORLD ENDS - NEW WEBSITE

Hello and welcome back... You may have noticed that the posts on this site have been a bit limited. This is because of 2 things.

1. I have started a new site called '98 Albums you need to hear before the World Ends'.
I wanted to create a site that lists all my favorite albums of all time (not just 80s) although most will be from the 80s.
I hope to turn this into a book one day.
Also i will be giving you, the listener, the option at the end to get your hands on the AAC (320kbps) versions of all 98 albums for you to listen to.

Some of these albums are pretty rare and hard to find on CD.

Take a Look, Take a listen = http://98albums.blogspot.com.au/

2. Ive run out of ideas of Electronic80s, but not to fear, i will add as tracks come to mind :)

Please also consider making a small donation on the top right of this page, its much appreciated and really makes my day.

Many Thanks, hope you like the new page.
